What is Electro Sex and E-stim?

If you’ve never tried electro sex stimulation, a whole world of sensational pleasure awaits you.

In this electro sex guide, we’ll answer all of your highly-charged frequently asked questions and give you some electrifying tips so you can electro play with confidence and safety.

Electrosex, aka electro play, electrostimulation, or e-stim devices that are used to send low voltage electrical signals to sensitive parts of our bodies. They use a small amount of electrical energy to stimulate your genitals and sexy bits and erogenous zones.

Our banging bodies are mostly made of water, about 75% in fact. This is great because it allows conducting electricity to pass through our skin. When you apply an electro sex toy or conductive pad to the body, electricity zips through our nerve cells, creating pulsing and vibrating sensations.

Yes you can orgasm from e-stim sex alone, and you may call it an electro orgasm! (Or an e-gasm).

These unique devices are a type of TENS machine.

Why do people use Estim & Electro Stimulation Sex Toys?

Electro sex is considered a type of BDSM or bondage play, but you don’t have to be into the BDSM world to have fun with these toys.

Electro sex toys are a very unique way of bringing a little of the pleasure/pain world to your sex life, whether you call it Bondage or not.

Setting the toys to a low setting will give you a light tickle that gently stimulates your nerve endings, creating pleasurable feelings. Cranking them up can produce strong contractions, which is caused by your muscles being tensed then relaxed, over and over.

What do Electro Sex Toys feel like?

On a low setting, the first time you experience electrostimulation it will be very faint and you will barely feel a tingle.

As you increase the intensity the tingle will increase and can feel like a tickle. The electric charge stimulates your nerve endings, making you hot and horny as if you were being caressed very lightly with a feather tickler.

Cranking the intensity up further makes the tickling feels firmer, and the tingling will increase, kind of like a high-powered vibrator. These settings are great for both external and insertable toys, and produce a similar vibration effect as well as added stimulation.

On the highest power setting, you should feel a numbing or a light stinging sensation. This is where people differ and some class the feeling as pain and some as pleasure. Everybody is different and it all depends on how you perceive the feelings. For many people, it dwells in the boundary between very arousing and satisfying.

At the peak power, the stimulation and sensation will cause your muscles to contract involuntarily. You have full control over what power setting you want to experience. Always start with the power switched completely off and slowly increasing the intensity. This allows you to control the e-stim machine settings that feel good for you.

How do people use Electro Sex Toys?

In partnered electro play, wearing external electro pads on your skin allows you and your lover to explore sending gentle pulses to each other. Kind of like a sensual massage.

For those of you out there that like to go hard and fast, you can hook up a dildo to an electro sex machine and explore intense internal stimulation. The e-sensation on high can cause your vaginal wall muscles to contract, giving you a deep and orgasmic massage.

Electro sex machines have a wide host of settings to make your encounter as unique as you want. Remember to use the first few power levels and if they rock your boat, you can try a deeper more intense setting, starting at 1 and going all the way to 99!

Electro Sex Stimulation FAQs

Here are the most common questions we get asked about electrostimulation sex toys. If you have any other questions that you don’t see here, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our customer care team.

Are Electro Sex Toys Dangerous?

No is the short answer. The electricity generated through electrostimulation sex toys is minimal and can be compared to that of a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machine, used for muscle massage and pain relief.

You can enjoy e stim safely in your own home, but there are some precautions you should take:

  • Do not use an electrostimulation unit if you have heart problems or have a pacemaker fitted.
  • Do not use electrostimulation devices above the waist.
  • Do not use electrostimulation devices while pregnant.
  • Do not use electrosex kits when you are feeling unwell, fatigued, dehydrated, undernourished, and not feeling normal.
  • Do not use electro sex toys on broken or irritated skin.
  • Always use water-based lubricant (with internal attachments) or electro-conductive gel (with external attachments) to increase sensitivity and avoid any skin irritation.
  • Always ensure that the power is off when you're applying a device to your body (that includes while you're inserting a dildo or butt plug).

Should I use Conductive Gel?

electrastim conductive gel

Electro-conductive gel evenly spreads out the stimulation and helps the transfer of the charge. You should use conductive gel on your body externally only and on e-stim accessories. Always read the instructions first. For internal e stim toys, use a dash of water-based lube instead.

Can I use Silicone Lube?

No. Silicone is classed as an insulating material, and not great for e-stim. Many e-stim toys are made from silicone, which can be degraded by using silicone lube. Water-based lube will help insertion and conductivity.

How can I clean my accessories?

Make sure you unplug the surface electrodes first. Then clean them with an antibacterial sex toy cleaner and water.

Avoid getting water inside the controller units and plug sockets. Generally, getting water in the sockets will not damage your toy, it’s better to avoid, as the residue can remain inside next time you do electro play.
